Originally from the town of Cresco in Northeast Iowa, John Kepros has always enjoyed bringing his analysis and design skills to help people. He studied biomedical engineering and then medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
During his surgical residency at Michigan State University, he also investigated novel inflammation modulating molecules used in the management of sepsis and hemorrhage while completing a master’s degree in surgery.
Continuing to follow his interest in caring for the sickest of patients, Dr. Kepros completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at Yale University and then went on to develop a framework integrating evidence-based practices and standardized patient care strategies
In addition to advancing the fields of trauma and critical care, he has been identified as a thought leader and an influential member of the medical staff. Most notably in improving quality and patient safety. He obtained an MBA from Regis University in 2008.
Dr. Kepros is a highly respected faculty member among residents and students and has been the recipient of teaching as well as leadership awards.
His more recent contributions are focused on developing teamwork models, preventing burnout, and exploring the relationship of evidence-based processes and patient centered outcomes.
